In the first six months of this year Saiag recorded a consolidated turnover of 622 billion lire, against 601.7 billion in the first half of 2000 (+3.4%). The EBITDA of the Group grew by 8, 3%, reaching 53.5 billion, while operating profit was EUR 29.8 billion, against 28.5 billion the previous half year (+4.6 %). At the extraordinary half was penalized for 17.5 billion from the exceptional losses of Comital Convert, shared Comital of Argentina, following the serious crisis that weighs on the country. Profit before taxes, primarily as a result of those extraordinary expenses, amounted to 0.4 billion, compared to 20.6 in the same period of 2000, while net profit of the minority interests is 0.5 billion against 12.7 billion. Pre-tax profits of the parent company is 1.1 billion against 0.8 billion in the first half of 2000.
